America has a long tradition in the machine tool industry. The demand for future-oriented machining solutions drives manufacturers to achieve top performance. At IMTS 2024, the German-based Chiron Group shows its capacity to deliver such solutions with a comprehensive product lineup and a deep understanding of customer needs. The new Micro5 and the established Mill 2000 give proof of performance live on stage.

“From the Chiron Group, customers can expect tailored solutions for small and large parts, with standard automation or as a turnkey solution. Our expertise in process automation and mastering technologies such as double spindle and multitasking machining with milling and turning positions us to deliver the solution that best meets our customers’ requirements,” states Simon Knecht, VP of Sales, and Marketing at Chiron America.

Precise and productive – 5-axis machining for large parts

Chiron Group showcases the Mill 2000, the vertical machining center designed for 5-axis machining, combining precision, productivity, and versatility. The swivel spindle reaches speeds up to 30,000 rpm with 180 Nm of torque. Within the working space dimension of X/Y/Z = 78.74“ x 38.38“ x 28.15“ multiple clampings or large workparts are dynamically machined with feed rates up to 246 ft/min and tool change time of 1.5 s.

The «must-have» in micro-machining

With more than 150 units sold in 2024, the new Micro5 is showcasing how the future of micro-machining is taking shape. “Why would your machine tiny parts on machines which are overdimensioned for this task“ With that question in mind and after a successful developing period, Chiron Group now sets a benchmark in micro-machining with the new Micro5

A footprint of only 10.76 square feet and an energy consumption of only 0.5 kW are sufficient to machine ultra-precisely complex and high-quality parts for medical devices, watchmaking, jewelry, and highly specialized tiny components. Automated with Feed5 automation system, the modular design of Micro5 can grow step by step from prototyping to large-scale production, delivering high autonomy.
