Spartan Precision Machinery Introduces New Sister SV-Series Vertical Machining Center Line
Houston, TX – Spartan Precision Machinery is pleased to introduce its new Sister SV-series vertical machining center (VMC) line.
Spartan claims that the Sister line will out-cut any machine in its class, and it will cut competitively with machines costing nearly twice its price. In fact, Spartan is so confident of that, the company offers to let qualified buyers “test drive” the machine in their own shop – risk free and cost free – for up to 90 days. 
The key to Sister’s speed is its PC-based, Intek control, which is exclusive to Sister in the VMC category. The control gives faster processing speeds than do common CNC controls. Spartan has posted a cutting video, titled “The Sister Challenge,” on its You Tube channel as evidence of the cutting speeds that this control provides. According to Spartan, very few VMCs can match the cycle time shown in this video, regardless of price.
Spartan’s president, John Boland, says that equally important, the Intek control is also extremely easy to use. Its conversational features make shop floor programming easy. And it accepts common post-processor G-code output, for those who program offline. John notes that users consistently give Spartan feedback along the lines of: “At first I was nervous about a control that I hadn’t used before, but I quickly learned that the Sister’s control is extremely intuitive and easy to use.” And user feedback is so important to Spartan, it allows customers to post machine reviews on its web site.
Spartan’s product offerings also include Momentum brand vertical turning lathes (VTLs) and flat bed lathes, as well as Accuway vertical turning centers (VTCs).
